ANN TAYLOR PEARL-EMBELLISHED DENIM

This month, I've partnered with Ann Taylor in celebration of pants. Growing up, I attended an all-girls private school, where I spent most of my days wearing a kilt. So, for me, the ability to switch into a pair of pants in the evenings or on the weekends gave me a sense of empowerment and made me feel inspired. Many years and many pants later, I like to think that I still have the same appreciation for slipping into a pair of ripped, light-wash denim or a white, wide-legged trouser on my own accord.

In light of National Women's History Month, Ann Taylor launched the "Pants Are Power" campaign, celebrating the evolution of pants not only in fashion, but as a symbol of equality for women. With the brand's commitment of over 60 years to make a woman feel powerful in her wardrobe, the new campaign video (also seen below) looks back at the 1940s when women could still be arrested for wearing pants in public and moves forwards to the present day when women can wear them whenever, wherever.

In celebration of Ann Taylor's spring pant collection, which utilizes the past to build sister solidarity in the future, I opted for the brand's pearl-trimmed girlfriend jeans, which I paired with an Ann Taylor piped linen blazer, my staple Club Monaco white tee and navy suede Stuart Weitzman heels.

STATEMENT BIKER BY THE NAMESAKE

It's no secret that I love a good leather jacket, especially when it comes to travelling on-the-go. So when I discovered this custom, fur adorned biker jacket by the Namesake, it was pure love. Handmade by Toronto designer Rosa Halpern, each jacket is named after a notable woman who has made a powerful impact on the world, giving each garment a unique and a personal feel. For my recent trip to New York Fashion Week Fall 2018, I opted for The Iris, named after interior designer and fashion icon Iris Apfel, who is best known for her larger-than-life personality and zany sense of style.

With its statement fur sleeves and subtle black coloured hardware, this jacket made for the perfect second skin during a packed day of shows. Keeping the jacket the standout piece of my look, I opted for a simple, plunging black Babaton jumpsuit with suede Steve Madden booties and my staple Dior So Real sunglasses with the metallic rose edge. Safe to say, I strutted through Spring Studios feeling like a total girl boss.
